People who receive State Pension or benefit payments at the beginning of next month might get their money earlier because of a bank holiday. HM Revenue and Customs and Social Security Scotland have confirmed that some payments scheduled for Monday May 4 will arrive early. The Department for Work and Pensions is expected to do the same thing.
DWP offices & phone lines will be closed during the bank holiday. Payments normally go out when all services are open including webchat & Jobcentre Plus offices.
Payments such as State Pension and Universal Credit & Personal Independence Payment and Child Benefits and Adult Disability Payment and Attendance Allowance that are due on Monday May 4 will arrive in bank accounts on Friday May 1.
A second bank holiday in May falls on Monday May 25. Payments scheduled for that day will be sent early on Friday May 22.
Below is a complete list of DWP and HMRC & Social Security Scotland payments that might be affected by the May bank holidays. This list will be updated once DWP confirms changes to scheduled payments.
If your payment does not fall on either bank holiday date of May 4 or May 25 it will be issued as normal.
DWP May bank holiday payment dates
DWP has not confirmed any payment date changes yet but is expected to follow the same pattern as HMRC and Social Security Scotland.
Payments due on Monday May 4 will be issued on Friday May 1. Those scheduled for Monday May 25 will arrive on Friday May 22.

Attendance Allowance and Carer’s Allowance and Employment Support Allowance and Income Support and Jobseeker’s Allowance and Pension Credit and Personal Independence Payment and State Pension and Universal Credit.
HMRC May bank holiday payment dates Payments due on Monday May 4 will be issued on Friday May
1. Those scheduled for Monday May 25 will arrive on Friday May 22.
Payments affected include Child Benefit & Guardian’s Allowance.
Social Security Scotland May bank holiday payment dates Payments due on Monday May 4 will be issued on Friday May 1. Those scheduled for Monday May 25 will arrive on Friday May 22.
Payments affected include
Adult Disability Payment and Child Disability Payment and Scottish Child Payment & Carer Support Payment and Pension Age Disability Payment and Scottish Adult Disability Living Allowance.
Social Security Scotland has confirmed that Best Start Foods payments will not be affected.
